Why wont it say I got the skull achievement in Halo 3?

I finished the 1st mission and got the skull for it in Halo 3, but it doesn't say I have the achievement. I have tried in Normal and Heroic, but it wont say anything about achievements. I have the 2nd skull achievement, Iron, but it wont let me get the first one. Please help! I NEED THE HAYBUSA HELMET!

If you're talking about the skull you find on the rocks by the first covenant drop-ship it is a silver skull. (blind) and will not trigger an achievement as there is no blind achievement. halo3planet.com/armor-permutations/hayabusa-armor/
