is it possible to repair a hole in a gear box ?
2004 crf250r, switched to a heavy racing chain, chain got a little slack after a couple rides and ripped open the gearbox. its not on a removable cover, but the main gearbox body. iam not sure if a welder could patch it without causing damage to the internal gears,etc
Since you don't do any maintenance on your bike, and you are willing to ride it until it dies before you recognize a problem, I'm guessing you want a solution that is cheap and easy.
Cut a piece of plastic (from a milk jug or coffee can lid) that is about an inch larger than the hole, then mix up some JB Weld from your local auto parts store. Spread the JB Weld on one side of the plastic and stick the JB Weld side over the hole (after you've cleaned it up) and let it dry for 24 hours before running the bike.
