Spiritually speaking or outer wise: what are some underrated bands?

Here are my picks
Pinback: Awesome band, simply awesome. Rob Crow is under rated in general
Minus the bear: Super epic win! Strangely good with metal though they are anything but
Copeland: Slow soft and relaxing
Ten Years After: Classic rock goodness all do not know of
Jonathan Colton: Hilarious feel good nerd rock
Kings of Convenience: Good romantic music that can get you laid
John Frusciante: Plays Guitar for RHCP. Better better solo
Neutral Milk Hotel: Fantastic, odd and fantastic
Tom Waits: more fantastic odd music
Claremont: Cuz i know them and they are awesome

I'm not sure that Tom Waits really counts as underrated, since everyone's who's heard of him thinks he's awesome. It's just that he could perhaps use more exposure - maybe a Tom Waits night on American Idol (I think I just made myself ill even contemplating such horror).

Other underrated bands: Wilco, Tragically Hip (huge in Canada, not so much elsewhere).
