Is it common that people struggle with a positive change in a friend/colleague/family member's life?
I've noticed this phenomena many times and I think it may have come up in psychology 101. Let's say a person has been at ground zero in some way or another, it could be their job, education, marriage, kids, dance skills, religion, anything. Then that person moves up in that topic. Is it common that others around them who were used to them being at ground zero have to get "used to" their new status? Not necessarily jealousy, but a discomfort in that the person has moved on or progressed?
i believe its quite common.
if people don't talk about it, it's probably because, they would fear it being seen as jealousy. or even they themselves mistake it as jealousy. i know the feeling you mean.
i've experienced it more than once. not often though. the discomfort could also be caused by a feeling of being "left behind" depending on the situation.
