How much would repairing a rip in a leather jacket cost?
My boyfriend ripped his new leather jacket. The tear is relatively clean (not frayed), and about 3-4 inches long. The liner underneath is not ripped. Any idea on a quote, and timeframe? I don't want to take it to the tailer, when it would be cheaper to get a new jacket.
I took mine to a shoe repair place that advertised that they also fix other leather items. They used an adhesive that was applied to the inside and even though I know where the tear is (which was about the same size as yours), I have trouble finding it. My coat is very thin leather, the repair was only $20, and I got it back in a couple of days. Some things are best done by professionals, and I wouldn't even think of attempting something like that on an expensive garment. You'd have to find a tailor that worked with leather and it's really a simple process, just not one you want to try yourself, so I'd check your local yellow pages to find someone.
