I have a 2008 harley sportster 1200cc, check engine light came on and bike idles high when its hot, any clues?
found the problem, was a pulg disconnected from my air intake, thanks for all your responses gave me the chance to look everything over
Morning.
First of all, pull out your manual and check all listings under "engine light".
The most obvious question is, do you have oil? Check it.
All of the newer bikes, like auto's, have so many computer parts, computerized system operating programs and boards, and so any small thing can go wrong, cause your engine light to come on, and cause your engine to idle faster.
But, yours is an '08. If you bought it new, you should still be under factory warranty, and you should be able to take the bike back to the dealer, or any dealer, and have them run some diagnostics on it to find out why this is happening.
