Bee vision may be limited to yellow & blue wavelengths making the redder wavelengths of the purple flowers less attractive.
Bee's may show preferences to specific nectar concentrations. Sufficiently concentrated nectar solutions in larger volumes offer more reward for the amount of work than similar quality nectar in smaller volumes.
