What kind of glue should i use to glue a patch to a backpack (sewing wont work because of the material)?
i bought a hot glue patch that obviously doesn't hold up to a constantly moving surface such as a backpack, unsure of what the patch itself is made of but sewing is out of the question.

It is the glue backing on the patch that is causing the problem. The patch was created to be an iron-on patch.
You need to roughen the backing so the new glue will penetrate and hold.
In this case, I would use E6000 (it is with the craft glues).
